AMENDING CHAPTER 388-97 WAC

Dear Nursing Facility/Home Administrators and Interested Parties:

The Rule-Making Order CR 103 for the amendments to Chapter 388-97 WAC,
Nursing Homes, was filed with the Office of the Code Reviser and will be published in
the Washington State Register as WSR 08-20-062.  The rule becomes effective on November 1, 2008.

The purpose of amending this rule was to:

• Update references to reflect current standards codes and federal requirements;
• Provide requirements for electronic monitoring use in NH;
• Clarify language;
• Break some sections into smaller sections to make them easier to read and find; and
• Re-number the entire chapter to consecutive four digit numbers for ease of reading and reference.

A copy of the final rule will not be mailed; however, once the codified final rule is
available, a link will be added to the ADSA internet, nursing home professional page at www.adsa.dshs.wa.gov/professional/nh.htm, under the heading, “NH Rule Filings – Chapter 388-97 WAC.”
