AGING AND DISABILITY SERVICES ADMINISTRATION

2008 NH "Dear Administrator" Letters

April 15, 2008

ADSA:  NH #2008-006
RESIDENT AND CLIENT PROTECTION PROGRAM (RCPP)

Dear Nursing Facility/Home Administrator:

Since 1996, a unit within the department has investigated individuals associated with nursing homes alleged to have abandoned, abused, neglected, exploited or financially exploited vulnerable adults.  The nursing home must not employ any individual found to have abandoned, abused, neglected, exploited or financially exploited a vulnerable adult.

The department is expanding these investigations into other department programs.  Beginning April 1, 2008, a single unit called the Resident and Client Protection Program (RCPP) is conducting all investigations of individuals alleged to have abandoned, abused, neglected, exploited or financially exploited a resident or client in adult family homes, boarding homes, intermediate care facilities for the mentally retarded, nursing homes and certified community residential services and support program.

If you have any questions on the RCPP unit or their investigations, please call RCPP Field Manager Denny McKee at (360)-725-3214.  For questions on provider practice investigations, please call your local Field Manager.  Thank you for your continued commitment to the long-term care residents of our state.

Sincerely,

Joyce Pashley Stockwell, Director
Residential Care Services
