Rescinding Boarding Home Interim Guidelines
Dear Boarding Home Provider:
When the Department of Social and Health Services assumed responsibility for licensing boarding homes in 1998, there were many questions that arose regarding the interpretations of a number of licensing rules (Washington Administrative Code 388-78A). In response, the department met with boarding home stakeholders and developed interim guidelines regarding the application of these rules. The intent and general agreement was these guidelines would provide direction to both boarding home and department staff on an interim basis until chapter 388-78A WAC could be revised.
The revisions to Chapter 388-78A WAC are now complete and become effective September 1, 2004. Many of the provisions of the guidelines have been incorporated into the revised licensing rules. Other guidelines are no longer applicable. Accordingly, effective September 1, 2004, all Boarding Home Interim Guidelines (# 1 through # 30) issued by the department are rescinded and no longer effective.
Please contact your RCS Field Manager if you have any questions regarding this rescission.
Sincerely,
Patricia K. Lashway, Director
Residential Care Services
