AGING AND DISABILITY SERVICES ADMINISTRATION

August 2, 2002

AASA: AFH #2002-025
SUBJECT: NEW TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Dear Adult Family Home Provider:

The new training requirements, developed and managed by Home and Community Services (HCS), have recently been published and distributed to providers. However, Residential Care Services is still receiving questions regarding various training issues. In order to assist you with your questions, a web site has been created by HCS that contains all the information that has been developed regarding the training rules and requirements, class dates and locations.

It is understood that some providers may experience difficulties in registering and attending classes. If you have difficulty getting into scheduled training in a timely manner, please track your request in your administrative file. As with all new requirements, you will be allowed a reasonable amount of time to come into compliance. The inspection process used by RCS licensing staff will not be revised to include review of compliance with these requirements until such time as all providers have had an opportunity to comply.

This web site can be accessed at www.aasa.dshs.wa.gov/Professional/training. If you still have questions regarding the training requirements, please contact Dotti Wilke at
(360) 725-2539. We appreciate your continued commitment to providing quality care.

Sincerely,

Patricia K. Lashway, Director
Residential Care Services
