This is a Temporary position.
Location: Olympia.
Duties
This position provides application development and database management services for agency-wide, mission critical
service delivery projects and programs focusing on automation of standardized business processes. This position performs design, development, programming and testing for applications that will support operational changes occurring within CSD.
This position is expected to provide technical skills which include analysis, system design, programming and testing.
As a specialist providing application development support in the Community Services Division of ESA:
* The successful employee independently analyzes, designs, develops, tests, supports and maintains system applications
using development technologies which include but are not limited to VB.Net, C#, ASP.Net, Java, JavaScript, DHTML, XML, and MS SQL.
* This person will develop specifications for new or enhanced system components; design code, compile and test
programs and databases per specifications in support of projects and/or systems; serve as a technical mentor and coach to lower level staff; and apply advanced technical knowledge to resolve complex problems.
* This person must have good communication skills in order to consult with customers and higher level technical staff. In addition this person will assist and consult business analysts, architects, system administrators, and management staff charged with system design.
* The responsibilities will include participation in requirements gathering sessions. This person will independently prepare
detailed program problem definitions for programming solutions and advise on the implementation of systems applications.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Four years of information technology experience analyzing, designing and programming computer software applications.
* One year of web development experience.
* One year of experience developing applications using Visual Studio and the Microsoft .Net framework.
* One year of experience developing applications using a Relational Database Management System. Experience with
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or above a plus.
* Ability to move or relocate objects weighing approximately 30 pounds.
* Occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* A Bachelor of Arts Degree with an emphasis in Computer Science.
* Experience developing web services.
* Experience with Apache web server, IIS, and Apache Tomcat.
