Kinship Caregiver Resource Kit

There are two ways to get this kit; you can have one sent to you or read the materials online.

1. Request a free Kinship Caregiver’s Kit by phone by calling 1-800-422-3263 between 8 am and 5pm, Monday through Friday, or send an e-mail to haupthp@dshs.wa.gov (make sure to include your name and mailing address with your e-mail request for a kit).
2. Read the materials online (see below).
   • Kinship Caregivers Support Program (PDF)
     The Kinship Caregiver Support Program provides financial assistance to eligible families in need.  Find the local KCSP in your area.
   • Kinship Navigators & Support Groups for Grandparents and Relatives Raising Children in Washington State.
     Kinship navigators help you "navigate" through the DSHS service system.  Support groups provide information, resources, and information, and can be found in many communities.  Find local contact information.

Booklets and Brochures

• Consent to Health Care for the Child in Your Care: A Kinship Caregiver's Guide (DSHS 22-1119x). This brochure explains a new law passed by the 2005 WA State Legislature which spells out a relative's rights and responsibilities (PDFs).
