Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving Training

RFOC is the DSHS curriculum that meets the requirements for basic training.  RFOC is a very practical and basic 28-hour classroom course in caregiving.  The class focuses on correctly performing basic caregiving personal care tasks, client rights, important communication and problem solving skills in caregiving, and protecting the health and safety of clients.

Modified Fundamentals of Caregiving (MFOC)

MFOC is the DSHS curriculum that meets the requirements for modified basic training.  MFOC a self-study course designed for health care workers whose previous training gives them proficiency in some of the content and basic skills covered in the full 28-hour RFOC course.

Finding an Instructor or Class

Individual Provider’s caring for a DSHS client living in his or her home should call the local Area Agency on Aging to get registered to take this training. Find your local Area on Aging.

Caregivers working in a boarding home or adult family home need to find an instructor who teaches this class.
