AGING AND DISABILITY SERVICES ADMINISTRATION
2005 CRS "Dear Provider/Administrator" Letters
January 26, 2005
ADSA: CRS #2005-001
Community Residential Services and Support
Dear Service Provider/Administrator:
In October 2002, the Aging and Disability Services Administration (AASA) and Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) joined together as one administration that is now recognized as the Aging and Disability Services Administration (ADSA).
Subsequent to this internal reorganization of DSHS, Residential Care Services (RCS) was assigned responsibility for the certification programs of contracted service providers offering supported living programs and those offering certified group home services.
RCS is proposing changes to the Supported Living rules. The purpose of amending these rules is to:
- Revise and amend sections to WAC Chapter 388-820 related to health and safety, Community Protection Program, assessments, restrictive procedures, inspections, enforcement remedies, appeals, agency finances, abuse and neglect reporting, sections that address the Individual Financial Plans and client’s rights.
- The revisions will clarify old rules, reduce redundant requirements, and make rules more easily understood.
- The department also needs to update WAC Chapter 388-820 to follow the federal requirements of the Centers’ for Medicaid and Medicare Services. The purpose of amending these rules is to update the administration name.
Enclosed is a copy of a Preproposal Statement of Inquiry (CR-101) for amendment to WAC Chapter 388-820 Community Residential Services and Support. If you have questions about the rule making process, please feel free to contact Jill Young at (360) 725-3210 or via e-mail at YoungJK@dshs.wa.gov.
Sincerely,
Patricia K. Lashway, Director
Residential Care Services
