CR 101 FILED PROPOSING AMENDMENTS
TO CHAPTER 388-78A WAC AND CHAPTER 388-112 WAC
Dear Boarding Home Administrator:
In November 2008, the people voted on Initiative Measure 1029 and it became law.
Highlights of this initiative include:
- Long-term care workers hired after January 1, 2010 will be required to go through different criminal background checks, including Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint checks.
- Long-term care workers are required to be certified as home care aides and complete an examination after more extensive training than is currently required.
- There may be a delay in the effective date of these requirements since no money was included in the Governor’s budget.
The initiative requires the department to make changes to our licensing WACs as well as training requirements found in Chapter 388-112 WAC. To begin the rule making process, the department consolidated amendments to multiple WACs and filed the enclosed CR-101 document with the Office of the Code Reviser.
