RESIDENT AND CLIENT PROTECTION PROGRAM (RCPP)
Dear Boarding Home Administrator:
Under state law (Chapter 74.34 Revised Code of Washington), you are a mandated reporter, and you must continue to protect residents and report to 1-800-562-6078 if you believe that abandonment, abuse, financial exploitation, or neglect of a vulnerable adult has occurred. You must give the name of the individual that you believe abandoned, abused, neglected, or exploited the vulnerable adult, if you know it.
Beginning April 1, 2008, a new unit in the department called the Resident and Client Protection Program (RCPP) will be responsible for conducting investigations of individuals alleged to have abandoned, abused, neglected, exploited or financially exploited a resident or client in the department programs, including boarding homes.
Any individual found to have abandoned, abused, neglected, exploited or financially exploited a vulnerable adult will have their name entered into the department’s list and
cannot have unsupervised access to vulnerable adults in department programs.
Provider practice investigations will continue to be conducted by regional RCS licensors or complaint investigators.
If you have any questions on the RCPP unit or their investigations, please call RCPP Field Manager Denny McKee at (360)-725-3214. For questions on provider practice investigations, please call your local Field Manager. Thank you for your continued commitment to the long-term care residents of our state.
Sincerely,
Joyce Pashley Stockwell, Director
Residential Care Services
