SUBJECT:? Mandatory Reporting of Abuse/Neglect of Vulnerable Adults

 

Dear Boarding Home Provider:

In April 2001, the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) announced a toll-free referral line to help the general public report suspected abuse and neglect of children.? On June 28, 2001, DSHS will announce the availability of that same number for the general public to report suspected abuse or neglect of vulnerable adults.? Callers to this referral line will be connected directly to a DSHS number to report the abuse or neglect.? This number will make it easier for the general public to report suspected abuse or neglect.

Facilities and mandatory reporters are still required to call 1-800-562-6078 to report suspected abuse or neglect of residents living in nursing homes, adult family homes, or boarding homes and to display the required poster with 1-800-562-6078 on it.
