Changes in Food Worker WAC
Dear Boarding Home Provider:
In a previous letter, AASA: BH 2000-006, dated February 7, 2000, you were advised about a change in Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 246-217-015 requiring food service workers to obtain a food worker card within 14 calendar days from beginning employment.
Other changes were also made to WAC 246-217. Two of the most significant changes are:
- WAC 246-217-035 addresses the length of time food worker cards are valid.
- WAC 246-217-045 explains limited-duty food worker cards.
Additionally, important changes have been made to WAC 246-215 Food Service:
- WAC 246-215-010 was amended effective January 27, 2000, to define unpasteurized juice.
- WAC 246-215-040 was amended effective January 27, 2000 and adds unpasteurized juice to the list of foods that, if served, must be identified in specific ways.
Enclosed for your information are current copies of WAC 246-215 and WAC 246-217. Also enclosed is further information from the Department of Health regarding unpasteurized juice.
Please take time to review and become familiar with these requirements and any changes or amendments. If you have any questions, please call your Area Manager.
Sincerely,
Patricia K. Lashway, Director
