RE: Recall of Cadet / Encore Heaters
Dear Boarding Home Provider:
Cadet Manufacturing Company and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) are recalling a number of in-wall electric heaters manufactured under the brand names “Cadet” and “Encore.” The models, sold between 1982 and 1999, are series FW, FX, LX, TK, ZA, Z, RA, RK, RLX, RX, and ZC. According to Cadet Manufacturing Company web site, “These models may be defective, and could overheat, fail, catch fire, and spew flames and molten particles. If you have these heaters installed at your property or residence, Cadet and the CPSC strongly urge you to participate in the recall.”
If your boarding home is equipped with any of the above listed brands and models of in-wall electric heaters, please take appropriate action to ensure residents’ safety.
Enclosed with this letter is additional information found at Cadet Manufacturing Company’s web site www.cadetco.com. Included is information on how to participate in the recall, and how to maintain the heaters, pending replacement. Cadet has a toll-free telephone number as well at 1-800-567-2613. Additional information may be obtained by calling the Consumer Product Safety Commission at 1-800-638-2772, or visiting their web site at www.cpsc.gov.
