RE: Amended WAC 388-78A-335 Sprinklers in Dementia Care Units

Dear Boarding Home Provider:

Washington Administrative Code 388-78A-335 Dementia Care has been amended to delay the deadline for boarding homes to install fire sprinklers in dementia care units until June 30, 2002.

Enclosed you will find a copy of the "CR 103" filed with the Office of the Code Reviser, and a copy of the final adopted rule. This final rule does not differ from the proposed rule filed with the "CR 102," which was distributed to boarding homes and interested parties with a cover letter
dated November 9, 1999.

If you provide services in a dementia care unit in a boarding home, and the dementia care unit is not equipped with fire sprinklers, please beginning planning how you will be able to complete the installation of fire sprinklers in the dementia care unit by June 30, 2002.

Please call Denny McKee, Policy and Training Unit, at (360) 407-0120 if you have any questions regarding this amendment.

Sincerely,

Patricia K. Lashway, Director
Residential Care Services
