SUBJECT: QUALITY IMPROVEMENT CONSULTATION PROGRAM
Dear Boarding Home Provider:
Aging and Disability Services Administration (AASA) has been working in collaboration with boarding home providers, association representatives, ombudsmen, and interagency staff, to develop a Quality Improvement Consultation Program in response to the legislative initiative RCW 74.39A, Long Term Care Services Options - Expansion.
Given the legislative mandate, Quality Improvement Consultants will work in partnership with providers to facilitate compliance with statutory requirements by clarifying RCW/WAC requirements; educating residents, providers, ombudsmen, staff and community resources regarding RCW/WAC requirement; and, referring residents, providers and staff to community resources as warranted. The Quality Improvement Program is voluntary with the following services available:
- Onsite facility visits initiated by and working with providers to assist them to develop and implement a quality improvement plan to address the identified needs of providers and residents.
- Selected topic training for all area providers (i.e. regional provider training; provider self-study guides and targeted training to be conducted upon provider request at all facilities).
Expected outcomes of the Quality Improvement Consultant Program include: positive resident and provider satisfaction with the program; prevention of compliance problems; and, improved resident safety, quality of life and quality of care in boarding homes.
Providers interested in using these services should contact Alice Mahar, Program Coordinator (509) 458-3590 and/or attend information meetings regarding the program, which will be conducted in each area during the first two weeks of January, 2000.
Sincerely,
Patricia Lashway, Director
