Dear Boarding Home Provider:
The Division of Residential Care Services, Community Services Quality Assurance (CSQA), in cooperation with providers and the Long Term Care Ombudsman, has developed a plan to replace the "Interpretive Guidelines" to WAC 388-78A (formerly WAC 246-316).
The plan involves providing access to relevant regulatory references for the operation of boarding homes, and updated "Interim Guidelines" issued by CSQA. A Resource Manual has been developed that includes these items. Enclosed you will find a Table of Contents for the Resource Manual and copies of four of the most commonly used references that will be contained in the Resource Manual:
- WAC 388-78A Boarding Home
- WAC 246-215 Food Service
- RCW 70.129 Resident Rights
- Interim Guidelines #1 through #25 (#22 and #23 are still being developed and are not y et available)
"Hard copies" of the Resource Manual have been made available
to the following three provider
associations:
- Washington Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (206) 248-7434
- Washington Health Care Association (360) 352-6170
- Northwest Assisted Living Facilities Association (253) 874-5211
If you need a copy of the Resource Manual, you may contact one
of the above associations, or you may
call Residential Care Services at (360) 438-7942.
CSQA is in the process of making the entire Resource Manual available via the Internet. All of the information identified in the Table of Contents will be available in the future by visiting the Aging and Disability Services Administration web site. You will be notified of the specific address when the Resource Manual is available on the Internet.
Please contact your area manager if you have questions regarding this material.
Sincerely,
Patricia Lashway, Director
