2008 AFH "Dear Provider" Letters

RESIDENT AND CLIENT PROTECTION PROGRAM (RCPP)
Dear Adult Family Home Provider:
Under state law (Chapter 74.34 Revised Code of Washington), you and your staff are mandated reporters and must report:
- Suspected cases of abandonment, abuse neglect, exploitation or financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult;
- By calling the department complaint resolution unit at 1-800-562-6078 and providing the name of the individual, if known.
Beginning April 1, 2008:
- A new unit in Residential Care Services, called the Resident and Client Protection Program Unit (RCPP) began conducting investigations of individuals alleged to have abandoned, abused, neglected, exploited or financially exploited a resident or client in the department programs, including adult family homes.
Any individual found to have abandoned, abused, neglected, exploited or financially exploited a vulnerable adult:
- Will have their name entered into the department’s list; and
- Cannot have unsupervised access to vulnerable adults in department programs.
Provider practice investigations:
- Will continue to be conducted by the regional RCS licensors or complaint investigators.
