RESIDENT SAFETY -- Food Recall Information

Dear Adult Family Home Provider:

It is your responsibility to ensure that each resident is safe and receives nutritious food. One method you can use to help you meet this requirement is to know about all food products recalled by the federal government.

A recent example is the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) recall of foods made by Castleberry’s Food Company of Augusta, Georgia. This recall warns against eating certain canned foods made by this company.

If anyone eats the food they can get very ill. Please look at your canned food and throw out any cans that are on the recall list.

You can access FDA food recall information on the web at http://www.fda.gov.

If you have any health questions, please contact your local health department at the number listed in your phone directory.

Sincerely,

Joyce Pashley Stockwell, Director
Residential Care Services
