Initial Inspections
Dear Adult Family Home Provider:
Since 1995 inspections for initial adult family home licensure, including those inspections involving providers intending to operate more than one home and changes of ownership (CHOWs), have been finalized from the local field offices. You may have heard that a decision was made to start doing initial inspections from the Residential Care Services (RCS) headquarters office in Olympia, including those involving multiple homes.
While we have made the decision to move initial licensing, including those for providers seeking to license a second or third home, we will not be moving changes of ownership (CHOWs) from the field at the same time. Staff doing the work from RCS headquarters will be stationed on both sides of the state and will report to a supervisor here. We are currently in the process of providing the opportunity for reassignment for the licensor positions.
Changing major processes always takes time; I want to be sure you know that this change has not yet been initiated. We hope to have it completely up and running by December 1, 2005.
Thank you for your commitment to and your interest in the vulnerable residents you serve.
Sincerely,
Joyce Pashley Stockwell, Director
Residential Care Services
