Categories of Service

The following table indicates the categories of service provided by Washington's licensed/certified nursing care providers.

Medicare - Licensed nursing home with some or all beds certified for Medicare (SNF).

Medicare, Medicaid - Licensed nursing home with all beds certified for Medicaid (NF) and some beds certified for Medicare (SNF

Medicaid - Licensed nursing home with all beds certified for Medicaid (NF).

Medicaid Nursing Home for the Retarded - Licensed nursing home with all beds certified for (ICF/MR). Beds used for intermediate care of the mentally retarded only.

Medicare Hospital -Licensed hospital with Medicare (SNF) long-term care wing.

Medicare Hospital with certified Swing Bed - Licensed hospital with some swing beds certified under Medicare (Title 18) which can be used for hospital (acute) beds, Medicare (SNF) or Medicaid (NF) beds. No long-term care wing.

Medicare, Medicaid Hospital- Licensed hospital with Medicaid (NF) long-term care wing with some Medicare (SNF) beds.

Medicare, Medicaid  Swing Beds -  Licensed hospital with some swing beds certified  under Medicare (Title 18) which can be used for hospital (acute) beds, Medicare (SNF) or Medicaid (NF) beds. Also has Medicaid (NF) long-term care wing with some Medicare (SNF) beds.

Medicaid Hospital - Licensed hospital with Medicaid (NF long-term care wing.

Medicaid Hospital with Swing Beds - Licensed hospital with some swing beds certified under Medicare (Title 18) which can be used for hospital(acute)beds, Medicare (SNF) or Medicaid(NF) beds. Also has Medicaid (NF) long-term care wing.

State School for the Mentally Retard - State school certified for Medicaid (ICF/MR) beds used for intermediate care of the mentally retarded only.

Boarding Home for Mentally Retarded - Licensed boarding home certified for Medicaid (ICF/MR). Beds used for intermediate care of the mentally retarded only.

Licensed Only - Licensed nursing home. Does not participate in Medicaid or Medicare Programs. Beds used for private paying patients only.

 

NOTE:

Medicare SNF - Agreement issued by Health Care Financing Administration (federal government) in Region X.

Medicaid Contract NF, ICF/MR - Contract issued by Office of Contracts Management of Department of Social and Health Services, State of Washington.
